XMRWallet Privacy Policy

Updated September 27, 2021

INTRODUCTION

XMRWallet is a free, open-source, client-side web application for interacting with the Monero blockchain. Privacy is central to everything we build. We deliberately minimise the personal data we handle, and where possible we eliminate it entirely. XMRWallet does not collect, store, or transmit your wallet keys, seed phrases, account credentials, or transaction data. We do not monetise user data and we do not use your information for advertising or marketing purposes.

This Policy applies to everyone who uses our service. Please read it carefully to understand how we treat the limited information we may receive. By using the site, you acknowledge that any collection, use, and sharing of your data will occur only as described in this Policy.

WHAT WE COLLECT

We collect the minimum amount of information necessary to operate and improve the service.

If you contact us for support by email, we receive your email address and any information you choose to include in your message. We do not request or require any other personal details.

We may collect basic, anonymised data about visits to our site and blog to understand how our services are being used. We do not currently use third-party analytics software that tracks individual users.

HOW WE USE INFORMATION

We use the limited information we hold solely to provide and improve our services and to respond to your support requests.

Specifically, we may use the personal information we receive to: (1) deliver the services to you; (2) respond to your questions, comments, and support requests; (3) monitor and analyse usage patterns to improve the service and your experience; and (4) contact you with service-related notices where necessary. We do not send unsolicited marketing emails.

SHARING INFORMATION

We do not sell your personal information to anyone, and we do not disclose it except in the limited circumstances described below.

We may share personal information we hold: (1) to fulfil the purpose for which you provided it; (2) with your explicit consent; (3) to protect the rights and interests of XMRWallet, our users, and others, including enforcing our Terms of Service; and (4) with our email support team, who may access your contact information only to the extent required to respond to your request and for no other purpose.

SERVICE PROVIDERS

We may engage third-party service providers to assist with email support functions. Any such providers are granted access to your personal information only to the extent needed to perform those specific functions and are not permitted to use or share that information for any other purpose.

THIRD-PARTY LINKS

Our services may contain links to third-party websites or applications. Once you follow such a link and leave XMRWallet, this Policy no longer applies. Any information you provide on those external sites is subject to that third party's own privacy policy, and we are not responsible for their privacy or security practices.

CHILDREN'S PRIVACY

Our services are not directed at children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If we become aware that a user is under 13, we will take steps to remove any personal information we hold about them and prevent further use of the service.

YOUR RIGHTS AND DATA SECURITY

We are committed to protecting the personal information we hold. We have implemented appropriate physical, administrative, and technical measures to safeguard that data. While we take every reasonable step to maintain the integrity and security of our systems, no security measures can be guaranteed to be completely impenetrable.

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the following rights with respect to any personal information we hold about you:

1. Right of access: the right to request information about, and copies of, any personal data we hold about you (limited to support emails). One copy is available at no charge; additional copies may incur a reasonable administrative fee.

2. Right to rectification: the right to have inaccurate or incomplete personal data corrected.

3. Right to erasure: where processing is based on your consent, the right to withdraw that consent and request deletion of your personal data from our systems. Support emails are automatically deleted after six months.

4. Right to restriction: the right to request that we limit how we process your personal data.

5. Right to data portability: the right to request that any data you have provided be returned to you in a structured, commonly used, machine-readable format, or transferred directly to another organisation where technically feasible.

6. Right to object: the right to object to our use of your personal data, including where we rely on legitimate interests as our legal basis.

To exercise any of the above rights, please contact us at: [email protected]

DATA RETENTION

If you contact us for support, we retain your information for no longer than six (6) months, after which it is permanently deleted.

CHANGES TO THIS POLICY

We may update this Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the Last Updated date at the top of this page. Where appropriate, we may also provide additional notice of material changes. If you object to any changes, you may stop using the service. Your continued use of the service after any published changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated Policy.

TL;DR: XMRWallet has no access to your seed phrase, private keys, or any activity within your wallet. The only personal data we ever receive is information you voluntarily include in a support request, which is automatically deleted after six months.
